The U.S. armed forces struck Iran on Friday after President Donald Trump accused the Islamic Republic of “foolish violation” of a ceasefire settlement by launching drone attacks at ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s armed forces later stated it had retaliated for the attacks.

U.S. Central Picture stated its aircraft “struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites.”

A one-formulation attack drone launched by Iran on Thursday struck the Singapore-flagged cargo ship Ever Fine in the strait off the waft of Oman, Central Picture stated in a submit on X. The vessel persevered on its formulation via the strait, a principal thoroughfare for oil shipments.

Trump stated the U.S. armed forces “knocked down” three other attack drones geared towards ships in the strait.

“The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire,” Central Picture stated.

“Furthermore, Iran’s dangerous behavior undermined freedom of navigation as commerce increasingly flows through the vital international trade corridor,” Central Picture stated.

Iran stated it retaliated in opposition to the U.S. attacks.

“The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy targeted several U.S. military positions in the region, warning that any future attacks would draw ‘a broader response than this’,” Iranian articulate media quoted its distant places ministry as asserting.

Iran’s observation did no longer voice which regional neighbors it centered.

But Bahrain condemned an Iranian drone strike early Saturday, describing it as “a blatant violation of its sovereignty, a flagrant threat to the security of citizens and residents, and a blatant breach of international norms and conventions that prohibit targeting civilian objects and terrorizing innocent people.”

The U.Okay. Maritime Alternate Operations Centre stated a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz reported being hit by “an unidentified projectile” on Saturday. The vessel sustained damage to its bridge but all crew were reported safe, the UKMTO stated.

The renewed attacks approach bigger than a week after Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a memorandum of understanding geared towards increasing a permanent peace deal to full the battle between their two worldwide locations.

Vice President JD Vance traveled to Switzerland final weekend for talks with Iranian counterparts about that deal.

Vance, in a submit on X on Friday, wrote, “Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it.”

“If they have disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone,” Vance wrote. “But violence will be met with violence.

Shortly before Central Command announced the retaliatory strikes on Friday, Trump was asked by a reporter at the White House if there would be consequences for Iran for violating the ceasefire.

“You are going to discover,” the president replied.

After the U.S. strikes, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp said in a statement: “Following the violation of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime in southern Lebanon, just a few hours ago, the treaty-breaking US regime, as continuously, violated its commitments and, under varied pretexts, attacked the coasts of the Islamic Republic of Iran with an airstrike attributable to the passage of a violating ship via an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz.”

“The IRGC Navy replied to this aggression by striking the positions of the US terrorist military in the distance,” the IRGC said.

“In line with clause 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Working out, the arrangements for controlling passage in the Strait of Hormuz are with the Islamic Republic of Iran; nonetheless, the US, by upsetting varied parties, sought to violate this commitment, to which a significant response used to be given, and this will likely be the case from now on.”

“If the aggression is repeated, our response shall be broader than this,” the IRGC said.

Ebrahim Azizi, the head of the national security commission of the Iranian parliament, in a post on X said, “The U.S. attacked Iran in the center of negotiations once all all over again.”

“The failed U.S. President has shown he has no commitment to the foundations of negotiation or a ceasefire,” Azizi said.

“This reckless violation of the ceasefire will, as continuously, end result in retreat and remorse on their segment. The blame sport does no longer work anymore.”
